JOINING FORCES TO BUY AND TRAIN BETTER HORSES
Most years, we invest in a number of high quality, well conformed foals or yearlings at the leading bloodstock sales in England, Ireland or France. Decisions are made against a well-defined specification in close consultation with our trainers and network of highly regarded agents. We put up the capital and take the financial risk before partnering out the horses with friends and co-owners. Do consider joining forces with us.
COME AND JOIN US: SHARES FOR SALE
We do not run large syndicates. Some of our horses are in sole, joint or quarter-share ownerships, while others have between five and ten owners. Feel free to discuss your requirements with Jon Hughes, who will willingly provide more detailed information on the shares that are currently available.
There are currently no shares for sale in any of our horses.
HORSES IN TRAINING
At any one time we usually have around ten horses in training and a similar number of young stock coming through. Many of our owners like to be with a range of trainers in a variety of locations, and ours are in the West Country, the Cotswolds and the Yorkshire Dales.
DREAMSUNDERMYFEET
An imposing and typically strong Yeats with scope in abundance. Brought along patiently and has now won 4x. Making up into a lovely chaser.
DUKE OF LUCKLEY
Bought in Ireland and looked after in Tipperary by PJ Colville, who used to be Assistant Trainer to Aidan O’Brien. Rapidly improving, already won 2x, more to come.
EL CABALLO
A powerful, well-bred colt and a most exciting horse. Won 5x races, including A/W 3yo Championship in 2022. Won the Group 2 Sandy Lane at Haydock Park.
FORTUNA LIGNA
A beautifully athletic, classy, well-bred mare. Already acquired black type in a bumper at Cheltenham. One to follow in mares’ hurdles 2023/24.
HABANA FLYER
Our lockdown lovely! A gorgeous filly, born to Mayfair Rock, with exactly the same personality: tough and feisty. Is all about speed and now contesting nursery handicaps.
LUTTRELL LAD
Looked well above average when winning a bumper on his second start. Has developed into a most genuine NH and Flat horse over middle distances. Has been fragile, but on the way back.
MOZZARO
Very well bred, from an Aga Khan family, and we expected him to be a junior bumper. All he has done since is grow. An imposing lad who has already won x3 chases. Ready to go again in 2023/24.
KALIBRATE
A beautifully-bred, proper NH type, by Califet from a Presenting dam line including Lord Noelie. Reminds Martin of his best horse, Champion Court. Will be a chaser.
MARES, FOALS & YOUNGSTERS
Our greatest successes have come from buying unraced foals and yearlings and then bringing them along properly and patiently. Giving them time to develop at their own pace. It was inevitable that co-owning mares and breeding from them would become part of the dream. And what a huge pleasure it is.
MAYFAIR ROCK
A very well-bred speed machine, and as tough as teak. We had high hopes for her but, alas, injury triggered retirement. Has a filly and two colts on the ground.
MAYSON COLT YEARLING
Born during the May Day bank holiday and a really gorgeous, sturdy colt. Mayson had his best-ever year in 2021. Produces tough, genuine types.
HAVANA GREY YEARLING
Karl Burke trained Havana Grey to Gr.1 victories, and he was tough and fast. We’re hoping the same qualities have been passed on to this foal. Developing well.
HAVANA GREY YEARLING
Our lockdown lovely! A gorgeous filly foal who has exactly the same personality as her mum: tough and independent. Goes into training with Karl Burke, who trained her sire.
SCENTED LILY
Superbly bred by top broodmare sire Presenting, from the Best Mate family. A winning stayer for Charlie Longsdon. In foal to Getaway. A breeding syndicate led by friends.

Scented Lily won for us as a staying hurdler. She is from the Best Mate family. We love her first foal, by Getaway. All crossed for the future.
L'AIR DU LARGE 2YO
A private purchase from France who will be going to Anthony Honeyball. By the ultra-fashionable No Risk At All, sire of Allaho. The dream is on!
YOUMZAIN 3YO
A knock-out on looks, pedigree and conformation. Bought at Goffs Foal Sale and has impressed from day one. A most exciting NH prospect with so much scope.

We are huge believers in developing long-term relationships with trainers that we admire for their commitment and dedication.
